How we work

Editorial standards

Sourcing — the sanad of every story

Each report ends with a list of its sources: official statements, documents, eyewitnesses we spoke to, and other news organisations we relied on. Where a source must stay anonymous for their safety, we say so and explain why we trust them.

Verification

  • We do not publish claims from social media until we have checked them against at least one independent source.
  • Images and videos are checked for date and location before use. If we cannot verify footage, we say so.
  • Casualty figures and other disputed numbers are attributed to whoever reported them.

News and opinion

Reporting is labelled by section (News, Humanitarian, Explainers, and so on). Commentary appears only under Opinion, and the views there are the writer’s own.

Sensitive content

War and crisis coverage can include distressing details. We avoid graphic images, warn readers when a story contains difficult material, and protect the dignity of victims — especially children.

Religious content

When we quote the Qur’an we use published translations and give the reference. Hadith are cited with their collection and grading. We do not issue religious rulings; for those, consult qualified scholars.

Use of AI tools

We use AI tools in our newsroom for research and drafting: following which stories are developing, reading reports from many outlets, and building a fact sheet in which every fact points to its source. Our editor decides what we cover and when it is published, and every story is checked sentence by sentence against its sources before it goes out. We do not use AI to write Qur’an or hadith text, and we do not publish AI-generated images of real events or people.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and add a note at the end of the story saying what changed and when. To report an error, email corrections@sanadreport.com with the story link and the correction.

Independence

Advertising and sponsorship never decide what we cover. Sponsored content is always labelled “Sponsored”.
